An open air promenade production of Alice in the walled garden in Brockwell Park SW2/SE24. This is entitled 'Alice in the walled Garden' and is adapted specially by Bradley Cole. Lewis Carroll Society - Day Visit to Daresbury

In and around Daresbury, Cheshire

Members of the Society are invited to attend a day visit to Lewis Carroll’s birthplace – Daresbury in Cheshire. The visit will include a walk round the village and the site of the Daresbury Parsonage, a tour of the Church and an optional visit to Walton Hall (which includes a small display of Carroll-related material and other local historical displays). The provisional plan is to meet at Walton Hall (approx 2 miles from Daresbury) at 11:00am or at the Ring O’ Bells pub at 12:30pm, for anyone who cannot get there by 11:00am. We will make use of members’ cars whilst in the area but we should be able to make arrangements for anyone who does not have their own transport.

Talk by Sherry Akerman

This talk by Sherry Ackerman is included in a one-day conference entitled: Hidden Sources: Western Esoteric Influence on the Arts. According the the advertising material:

"She provides textual analyses from Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass that demonstrate Carroll’s “masterful job of concealing” both Gnostic and Neoplatonic themes in both books. A concomitant phenomenological interpretation of historically re-contextualized biographical data further supports the argument. The gradual progression from Platonic idealism, via the earlier Cambridge Platonists and Thomas Taylor, toward nineteenth century theosophy and spiritualism is traced as it pertains to the theme. Her paper draws substantively from Chapter V of her, Behind the Looking Glass, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, July 2008, which purports that Lewis Carroll intentionally obscured esoteric allegory in his Alice books."

Wonderland - an Alice inspired theatre production
